Final Review of A3 Hand In Portfolio

Reviewing my portfolio, im actually pretty impressed with the final outcome of it. Increasing about 8 pieces of my work from the last time when i first handed them in, ive created better and more attractive work using techniques and emperience ive learnt over the year.

I would probably say that my vehicle design, environment design and weapons design are my favourite three pieces as I think that the rendering, colours and individuality of the pieces compared to the others is at a much better standard then the rest.

I would probably say the piece of works that imleast appreciative of are my antagonist design and person as me.

I think me as a person looks nice in full detail and works but the actual anatomy of the piece is inappropiate and is over exaggerated. The antagonist work after improvements looks better then the last piece as ive added more detail but the rendering of parts such as the hands looks ridiculous. But anatomy wise and rendering of the clothes looks nicer and is easier on the eye then the last piece.

Overall ,I think my A3 portfolio is good and shows the amount of effort I worked into it this year as I couldnt even use a graphics tablet at the beginning of the year, didnt know much about rendering and had hardly the skill i have now at the end of the year in photoshop. This portfolio shows my overall progression in 2D game art and how ive improved in photoshop, skillin the graphics tablet and drawing

Storyboards

This si the Storyboard I created for a Small FMV. Apart from missing out the last shot and the one before it being ridiculous and not looking right at all in face proportions, I appreciate my storyboard to an extent. The simple monochromatic shading design I did for the whole document I think worked and was appropiate to the shwoing what happens in each shot

Final Environment

This is my final environment piece for the to piece art portfolio. Out of the works created in this year, this is actually probably my favourite piece. The reason being because the colours are dynamic, they work well together and it has a main interesting piece.

If I was going to improve this it would be with some of the colour rendering as on some parts it seems ike the light doesnt blend properly or the rendering hasnt been done properly.

Rerference Picture of City at night

Environment Work References

Using the 3D model at first to create a general outline. I found this particulr technique pretty useful and helped me develop quite a sophisticated piece of artwork in the end.

Then using the energy ball reference for the center of the image, I was abnle to depict the colour references and what type of ball i should create to make it look interesting. Then using the night picture i have referenced, I was ablt to delve out the colours that would be in the picture as its night time.

Work for Turnaround and Expressions

Character Turn-Around and Espression Sheet. When creating this I did do a lot of cloning because I didnt understand the inital concept of creating this. If I was to back to this project, I would edit more information such as eyes and creaselines

These are some artists on deviantart where i get some great interest from. SamikiChan at the top I have used a technique he uses with airbrushing to learn how to do proper rendering. I really like how these artists do their work and really enjoy viewing there work

New Work for Armour Assignment

The final design for the armour im actually really proud of. I tihnk this is my most detailed work to date. Anatomically there are parts which I dont like. These being the face expressions and the left leg, but apart from these, the actual detail im proud of. If to re-visit I would basically edit the anatomy and re model it

Beginning Line Art/Silhouette for Armour Pose

Maybe some more work on proportions but i do think I can make this better via the rendering of the image.

Weapon Designs

I actually really like dthis brief we recieved as it's in my comfort zone. I decided to try the cel-shading art style to draw them as I think I can work with style better and its more convinient. I do think the weapons came out quite well and work to an extent and worked for the effect I was trying to get across. I did follow different themes for each weapon so as my teacher mentioned, I would like to edit these to make these all the same theme.

Concealed Weapon - RazorDisc Shooter

Following a more futuristic theme here, rendering looks good and I personally think it matches the theme as mentioned

Heavy Weapon - Devil Trident

The heavy weapon had a hell and sadistic theme to the colour and style. Again colours and render are appropiate and it does remind me of a trident that would in the Neverworld.

Small Weapon - Mechanical Crossbow

The theme of this was woodlands. I like the innovative design of this weapon and it suits the theme with colours and mechanical design.

 Standard Weapon - Dual Blade

I finally did a royal theme for the standard weapon. I really appreciate this weapon as the actual design is very fancy and again due to the colours and the patterns for the handle which are used, it looks attractive.

Car and Driver First Submission of

Car and Driver Work

Need to work a lot on these before handing them in for final portfolio. Especially the woman as she has hardly any work put in her and is lacking some of the limbs due to not drawing and colouring the right order.
The car I like and don't like. First half looks good and is shaded quite nicely but the back where the peacock feather spread is, needs work on, you can see where the shading is but it needs to be worked into a lot more to look better.
The woman looks good when it comes to the face and I think the realism works. Everything else, NEEDS work.

More Peacock Designs for Patterns

As ive decided to do a female, I think keeping with the peacock theme, I might make her look similar to a peacock by adding the design on the peacocks face and the general fantastical theme to keep with that

peaccock eye, design for the weaponry of my car

Authenticity, sticking by the design of the peacock feathers give it representation and shows what animal I have chosen for the overall design of my car in a whole.

Picture References for Car Idea, Combination of the animal

Random combination of elements is quite obvious in my opinion but I think if I use the peacocks in an adverse way. Such as the the way the animal walska dn using its feathers as offensive and defensive weapons (this being because im going with a futuristic style. As im doing this animal as well, I think im heading more in the female direction for the driver of the car
